l'arrêt de la Cour de droit administratif et public du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud du 7 septembre 2011 qui rejette le recours formé par A.________ contre la décision sur réclamation rendue le 16 juin 2011 par le Service cantonal des automobiles et de la navigation confirmant le retrait de son permis de conduire prononcé le 6 avril 2010 pour une durée de douze mois,
le recours en matière de droit public déposé le 7 octobre 2011 par A.________ contre cet arrêt,
la lettre du 3 novembre 2011 par laquelle l'intéressé déclare retirer son recours;
considérant:
qu'il sied de prendre acte du retrait du recours et de rayer la cause du rôle ( art. 73 PCF par renvoi de l' art. 71 LTF ; art. 32 al. 2 LTF ),
que vu les circonstances, la présente ordonnance sera rendue sans frais (art. 66 al. 1, 2ème phrase, LTF);
par ces motifs, le Président ordonne:
1. La cause est rayée du rôle par suite de retrait du recours.
2. Il n'est pas perçu de frais judiciaires.
3. La présente ordonnance est communiquée au mandataire du recourant ainsi qu'au Service des automobiles et de la navigation et à la Cour de droit administratif et public du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud.
