The case involves a penal investigation against an individual for violating federal laws concerning the residence and establishment of foreigners. The local court's president refused to assign a public defender to this individual in a ruling issued in June 2007. Following this, the Tribunal d'accusation of the cantonal court dismissed the individual's appeal against the refusal, citing it as late and also rejecting the substantive claims. The individual subsequently filed a federal appeal seeking the appointment of a public defender and assistance for legal costs, which ultimately became the subject of examination by the federal tribunal.

Arrêt du 16 août 2007

Ire Cour de droit public

Composition

M. le Juge Féraud, Président.

Greffier: M. Parmelin.

Parties

A.________,

recourant,

contre
